Companies wishing to operate shared electric scooters in Istanbul have already started to apply. The Istanbul City Government (IMM) has formulated an E-Skuter sharing system directive in accordance with the electric scooter regulations published in the official gazette on April 14. Following the UKOME directive passed on May 3, the application conditions have been determined to apply to companies wishing to operate scooters in Istanbul.
In this context, companies that have obtained the authorization certificate from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure must submit an application to the IMM Transport Department in accordance with the established principles. The application process will end on July 15, 2021.
The IMM Transport Department will allow the company to use a total of 38 electric scooters in 75 areas of Istanbul. In line with UKOME’s decision; electric scooters will not be able to be used on the pedestrian zone and sidewalks in the Adalar district.
At the time of application, the company must submit a sketch stating the areas they will apply for throughout Istanbul, the number of scooters in these areas, and the stopping points of each scooter and authorization documents.
