The minimalist Scrooser is an electric fat tire transportation tool specially designed for city cruising. As its manufacturer briefly describes, it is a “mini Harley Davidson on the sidewalk.”
The idea originated from inventor Jens Thieme and IFPE, the latter is a mobile solutions company established by Thieme in Dresden, Germany, in 2011. On the crowdfunding website Kickstarter, Scrooser raised nearly US$187,000, which is about US$67,000 higher than the target-from 224 backers.
“We think this means there is a lot of market potential; “People believe that Scrooser will not even shake Scrooser. “Red Mike, co-owner of Manicx, a multimedia marketing agency based near Dresden, said.
Robert Fisher, another co-owner of the agency, added: “This is for people who think Segway is cool, but feel that they are ridiculous in one way.” This is anti-sports. Gway. Once people can test drive one and start seeing them on the street, they will want one. ”
Thieme and his company are optimistic that urban commuters are tired of burning fuel while sitting in traffic jams and looking for parking spaces in circular blocks. They will seize the opportunity to traverse urban obstacle routes and enjoy the sidewalks and squares Worry-free park-unlike riding a bicycle, you should not be tired when riding a bicycle.
Scrooser’s DNA is derived from the old German Democratic Republic (DDR) scooters popular in East Germany from the 1960s to the 1980s. However, it brings absolute modern technology to the dining table in the form of unique specially manufactured fat tires (diameter 457mm / 18 inches, width 241mm / 9.5in, rim 203mm / 8in) and electric rear hub motor.
Thieme designed tires, inspired by tires found in agricultural machinery. In addition to the eye-catching style, the tires also provide a smoother and more stable driving experience. In fact, the tires are wide enough to allow Scrooser to stand on its own-although the spring-loaded dual foot pedal bracket can be tucked under the pedals, it can park more stably on uneven terrain.
The maximum power of the electric motor is 1,000 watts, but the limit is 250 watts, so the rider cannot exceed the local motor vehicle speed limit. Scrooser in full chat will drive at a usable 25kph (approximately 15mph) speed. Riders can choose to use the pulse drive mode for intermittent coasting and driving. This mode will be activated whenever the driver walks away and exceeds a speed of 3.2kph. Alternatively, they can keep the Scrooser in direct electric mode by pressing the throttle button on the handlebar to maintain stable power. Fischer explained that the pulse drive mode has a longer cruising range of 55 kilometers (34 miles) compared to 35km with direct drive power.
The 36v lithium-ion battery powers electric vehicles, and this specification is favored by many pedal-assisted electric bicycle manufacturers. The battery is located in the middle of the stern, under the pedals, and can be charged in about three hours via the included standard charger unit (although there are plans to develop a fast charger to cut the charging time in half). Fischer explained that users can take the battery out of the home or office to charge it without having to bring the machine itself indoors.
The curved frame is made of high-strength aluminum alloy. The Scrooser weighs 28 kg (61 lb), is about 1,750 mm long, 750 mm wide, and 1100 mm high.
Worried about thief? Remove the key and the ignition lock will kick in to prevent the tires from rolling. In order to obtain higher security, users can also use pull-out cable locks embedded in the frame. In addition, the integrated GPS unit makes it possible to easily track the stolen Scrooser via a smartphone.
Beta testing of the Scrooser prototype will begin in January 2015, and IFPE plans to start production shortly thereafter at a price of approximately US$4,000 (approximately 3,200 euros). Electric scooters have entered a more crowded market, including the foldable URB-E similar to Erector-Set, the stylish Zümaround and the elegant Unu. But Mike, the head of Manicx, believes that Scrooser’s style sensitivity can win.
He said: “This will attract a lot of attention because people have never seen something like this before.” “This will attract tastemakers who are not afraid to stand out.”
